Kelly Wharff, Senior Dental Assistant

"Making a difference in patients' lives is very important to me."

Kelly has worked in dentistry with Dr. Way since March 2003. She has certifications in radiology and CPR and extensive CEREC training. In addition, she is our Invisalign guru. She regularly attends continuing education classes and seminars covering various aspects of dentistry.

Kelly spends her free time with her husband, C. T., her mini-Chihuahua, Roxy (who she considers her baby) her family, and her friends. She also enjoys shopping and going to the gym.

Melanie C. Swain, Registered Dental Hygienist

"I love the small close-knit environment. It allows for an individualized care for our
patients. "

Melanie has been a registered dental hygienist since 1994, and she has worked alongside Dr. William Way since August of 2005. She earned her bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. Her professional accomplishments include the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler award, Boot Kamp training, and TOPS Dental training. She holds membership in the Greater Richmond Dental Hygienists' Association, and in the Virginia Dental Hygienists' Association, she is an executive board member and corresponding secretary. She is also a board member of Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry.

After hours, Melanie spends time with her husband, Mike and their newborn son. She also enjoys running, yoga, snow skiing, and exercise, as well as knitting and gardening at home.

Shanna Stanley, Dental Assistant / Patient Relations Coordinator

Shanna joined Dr. Way and the Westhampton Dental Team in January 2008. She has an upbeat personality and over 9 years of experience in dentistry. She earned her Associates in Science from J. Sargeant Reynolds CC and her Dental Assisting and Registered Dental Hygiene certifications at Halifax CC. In addition, she is CPR and Xray certified.

Away from the office, Shanna loves hanging out with her family and friends, and spending weekends at the river. Her hobbies include softball and working out.

Adrienne Merza, Office Administrator

Adrienne joined Dr. Way and the Westhampton Dental Team in May of 2008.  She graduated from Gannon University with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.  She has over seven years of public relations and business office experience.  In addition, she has attended dental office management CE courses.  Adrienne is the first person you will meet when you visit our office.  Her priority is to help you get your dental visit off to a great start and help provide you with the best dental experience ever!  She is the person that will answer any scheduling, financial arrangement, or insurance questions that you may have.  She is a people-person who truly enjoys working with our patients!  Away from the office, Adrienne loves going to the movies, dining out at new restaurants, reading, working out, and most of all spending time with her husband and their two dogs.
